When replacing oil pumps in the following transmissions, you may be supplied with a bearing type pump, which has superseded the bush type oil pump.
Things to be aware of:
- There is no supersession on the torque convertor, the issue with this is the bearing has a slightly larger clearance and can allow more oil to pass and compromise the front seal, even blowing the seal out.
- If the pump bush has lodged and seized on the convertor spout and this surface area/diameter is reduced by machining you will increase blow-by oil and increase the chance of seal blow out.
Things you can do:
Measure convertor spout. This should be 46.94mm minimum – if your spout is under you can replace the convertor spout. Alltranz has convertor spouts available with the following specifications:
