Dodge trucks with Chrysler RFE transmissions are at high risk for overdrive failure due to clutch wear on the inner retainer housing. Damage builds up over time, causing the clutches to drag, affecting apply and release. To eliminate all risk of wear, This Sonnax heavy duty remanufactured inner retainer housing kit features a specially modified, used OE retainer and new hardened steel inserts to upgrade durability of '07-later 45RFE and 545RFE, plus all 65RFE, 66RFE and 68RFE units.

The Sonnax retainer is an ideal upgrade for improving transmission durability in any stock or modified vehicle. All OE cast aluminum retainers and aftermarket billet aluminum retainers, even those that are hardcoat anodized, will inevitably wear. Steel retainers are not an ideal option — due to their excess weight, they overstress support bushings throughout the transmission.
