Kit is designed to fit both the short and long OE detent bore designs

Symptoms:

• Manual lever binds in Park position
• Damaged valve body casting
• Linkage loose
• No start

Cause:
Continuous movement and vibration of the shift linkage causes wear to the valve body detent ball bore

Correction:
By oversizing the detent ball bore and installing this precision steel sleeve and replacement ball, expensive cores may be salvaged.

The detent ball in the valve body wears into the aluminum bore due to continuous movement and vibration of the linkage. This creates excessive looseness in the manual valve lever and allows the manual valve to move out of alignment. No start or being stuck in Park can occur from the manual valve being out of position due to extra clearance. This condition often requires that the valve body be replaced.

This Sonnax valve body detent ball and sleeve kit allows the valve body to be salvaged.

• Precision steel sleeve restores worn valve body and properly supports the detent ball.
• Precision-ground steel ball included for optimal fit with the replacement sleeve.
• Self-guiding bench-style reamer allows casting to be oversized quickly and accurately without specialized equipment.

Note:
Although this fix is compatiblewith 48RE units, the bore diameter in some units will be smaller and may cause potential reamer piloting issues.
