Symptoms:
Cause: A manual valve indexed out of position and/or linkage instability allows line pressure to feed the Forward clutch circuit in Park.
Correction: Sonnax manual valve index will overcome the loose linkage tolerance and correctly position the manual valve.
Vehicles with Ford A4LD transmissions commonly have such problems as burned Forward clutches, binding condition when the selector lever is pulled from Park, or delayed Reverse. The Forward clutch failure is often caused by a manual valve indexed out of position, thus allowing line pressure to bleed into the Forward clutch circuit in Park position. The instability of the linkage also creates a manual valve misalignment and delayed Reverse. Attaching the Sonnax manual valve index to the end of the manual valve will overcome the loose linkage tolerance and prevent the manual valve from opening up the Forward clutch circuit in Park.
